On behalf of the City of Weatherford, I would like to invite you to visit our outstanding community. "Hometown Pride" is the feeling I have when I get the opportunity to show off the City of Weatherford. We have so much to be proud of.
Rader Park has something for everyone. Picnic areas, rodeo arena, 6 softball fields, 18 hole golf course, 5 baseball fields (including the Kiwanis Youth baseball complex), tennis courts, soccer fields, as well as many other recreational opportunities. Weatherford has continually increased available water supplies for the future. Capacity for the wastewater facility has been increased to support a larger population and industrial demands. A new digester will be installed in 2004 to keep us on track for the future. Weatherford is the smallest city in state history to receive a Class 3 fire rating, the same as Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Safety is our number one priority when it comes to the children and citizens of our outstanding community. Our Fire Department, Police Department, and our City Council continually strive to be the best in the State of Oklahoma. Southwestern Oklahoma State University, standing firmly on the hilltop has an enrollment of over 5,000 on the Weatherford and Sayre Campuses. Southwestern features one of the finest Pharmacy Schools in the Southwest. Students attending Southwestern become involved in the community and the community tries to make their stay in Weatherford a home away from home. Weatherford Public Schools is known not only for the academic achievements but also for winning state championships in football, baseball, track, along with many individual champions. Finally, the diamond in the rough may be the Thomas P. Stafford Airport and Museum. Astronaut General Thomas P. Stafford has assembled some of the most amazing artifacts found in the world. Renovations along with new buildings are being completed this summer. The museum offers some of the best education tools and pleasurable sights in Western Oklahoma. Come to Weatherford and let us show you some "Hometown Pride". Sincerely, Mike D. Brown, Mayor
