The goal of the city’s Sports and Recreation program is to help make Weatherford the finest possible place to live and raise a family. By growing into a well-rounded program with activities to fit all kinds of interest and skill levels, the program is well on its way to achieving the goal. Programs are planned on a seasonal basis, and all age groups are included.

RecreationSummer programs include baseball, softball, aquatics (swim team and classes), fun and fitness, volleyball, arts and crafts, golf, tennis, gymnastics, and fishing. These programs are usually four to six weeks long and feature instructors who teach people at all skill levels.

Many other programs are offered throughout the calendar year. They include boys and girls basketball ( including a free throw contest), a bowling tournament, a track meet, and SWORDS (a year-round youth swim team).

The range of activities for adults runs from a number of softball leagues and tournaments to dance lessons, aerobics classes to sand volleyball, and 3-on-3 basketball to a domino tournament.

The Sports and Recreation office is found in City Hall, 522 W. Rainey. The telephone number is (580) 774-2450.
