Despite all the city has to offer, occasionally people feel the need to
get out of town. Weatherford’s central location offers travelers a short and pleasant
journey. Weatherford is located on Interstate 40, one of the nation’s main east-west
arteries. It is approximately equidistant from coast to coast.
The Thomas P. Stafford Airport, on the east side of town, has a lighted 4,400 foot runway with charter, rental, and leasing services available. Greyhound Bus Lines has an agency station at 124 S. Broadway. Farm rail provides rail service that connects with Santa Fe and Burlington Northern Lines. The Red River Transportation bus is available for $1.00 per ride, from 7:30 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Dispatch is provided through the police department. Oklahoma City and its Will Rogers
International Airport are found just an hour east of Weatherford on I-40. Just a
day’s automobile journey or less from Weatherford are St. Louis, Dallas, Kansas City,
Albuquerque, Houston, and Denver. Besides the interstate, Weatherford is a stop along
State Highway 54 and Route 66, and is 15 miles east of U.S. Highway 183 and 60 miles west
of Interstates 35 and 44.
